Artist Bio: Irving Amen (b. 1918, d. 2011) was a painter, printmaker and sculptor whose designs and woodcuts grace many buildings and edifices in the United States and Israel. Amen is known as one of the most important printmakers in the United States. Amen began drawing at the young age of four. By the time he was fourteen years old, he won a scholarship to the Pratt Institute. He emulated Michelangelo's masterpieces and spent years perfecting his own unique style. His work is included the collections of many museums including the Metropolitan, the Museum of Modern Art, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
