Japanese Kutani Lithophane Teaware

Description: Three vintage pieces of Japanese Lithophane Teaware. When light shines through the bottom a Japanese women appears at the bottom of the cup. Geisha lithophane cups were first created in the late 1800s and production continued until the 1950s. The cups are thin and the photo found at the bottom of the cup is created using a varying thickness of porcelain. Most of these porcelain cups are made in the Kutani region of Japan. Single saucer is marked "Kotobuki" Hand Painted Kyoto Japan. C. 1950s

Condition: Very Good, no damage noted.
