U.S. Mint Errors
An error coin is a coin that was manufactured incorrectly by a mint. The U.S. Mint has produced millions of coins using automated machinery since the mid-19th Century yet, only a few 10s of thousands of coins with an error have ever left the Mint.
The variety of mint errors and combinations make this category of coin acquisition very interesting and values can be significant for these rare coins. GoodLife Auctions deals with all numismatic areas including U.S. Mint Error Coins.

GoodLife Auctions has the expertise to evaluate, manage and sell gold coins, silver coins, slabbed and graded coins of all varieties and collections of all sizes. If you are interested in consigning a single rare coin or a large collection of coins, please contact our auctions manager to discuss how to consign your items.

Item description

1952-S Lincoln Cent O-Die Chip and R-Strike Through

1952-S Lincoln Cent, VG-10

Description: 1952-S Lincoln Cent with the following errors. Obverse Die Chip and Reverse Strike Through grease.

Error: Die Chip - The missing piece leaves a void in the die face into which coin metal flows. A die chip can be connected to a die crack or it can be freestanding.
Strike Through Grease - This error type occurs when grease gets on the planchet or die and is struck into the coin.

Grading Comments: VG-10 - Considerable wear has flattened most of the fine detail. Design detail is still heavily worn but the major devices and lettering are clear. Most lettering remains readable. Unless a grading services such as Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) or Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) is stated in the auction description as the source of an items grading, GoodLife Auctions uses its own good faith, contemporary grading standards and interpretations to grade stamps, coins and currency. Please note all grades are subjective and buyer should make their own visual inspection and determination about the accuracy of grading. See our Auction Terms of Sale for more information regarding grading - no returns are accepted for ungraded coins or grading inaccuracies.
