18th C. Japanese Anagama Vase

Description: Late 18th Century Japanese Anagama wood fired vase, with natural ash deposits and bubbles. Anagama is a unique wood-fire art pottery method that produces volcanic effects in the glaze and slip. Unlike more traditional firing methods that produce uniform pieces that are quite identical, the ancient wood-firing method known as Anagama produces one-of-a-kind pieces that are original ceramic art.
