Mens Wittenauer 14k Gold Watch

Description: Circa 1950 Men's Wittnauer wrist watch in 14k gold case. Self-winding 17 jewel movement. The serial number places manufactured date approximately 1949. Watch band is marked Made in Hong Kong.

Dimensions: Case measures appx. 32.5 mm. 18 grams14k yellow gold
Condition: Synthetic crystal is scratched. Watch needs servicing however it is a self-winding model and runs well.
Bio: The A. Wittnauer Co. became the exclusive sales agent for Longines Swiss watches in 1880, but began making their own movements in 1898. Wittnauer watches wee world famous for their super accurate movements and were used by military and worn by famous notables such as Howard Hughes. In 1936, the Wittnauer family sold their interests to Longines, creating the Longines-Wittnauer Co., which would stay in business until 1994. Wittnauer is currently owned by Bulova, and Longines by SMH (Swatch).
