Description: 19th Century porcelain 'Piano Baby'. German original, handpainted baby figurine. Very nice bisque and modeling. The figurine is well sculpted with bisque layered under the painted parts unlike late Japanese reproductions. Believed to be made by Gebruder Heubach and is marked and numbered. Piano babies were created to decorate pianos. Mostly popular in the late 1880s to 1890s, they were still made into the early 1900s.
